About Troubadour Notebook

Hi, I’m Kelsey, creator of Troubadour Notebook.

Like many of you, I’ve always loved stories. I grew up captivated by the legends of Robin Hood, and a very weird obsession for medieval castles… but when it came to writing my own stories, I quickly realized I had no real background in history. I didn’t study it at school (I actually studied Television at university!). Mostly because people told me it was a subject that wouldn’t lead to anything, and for a long time I felt completely out of place trying to bring the past to life in my own writing.

That feeling of wanting to tell stories but being overwhelmed by where to even begin with research, is exactly why I created Troubadour Notebook.

Why I Created Troubadour Notebook

I know what it feels like to sit down, brimming with ideas of a story, but have no idea how to structure research or what to look for. I do believe Research is an integral part of the writing process. Did I start with how castles really looked? What clothes they would wear? Religion? Or just start writing and hope for the best. I used to get lost in endless internet rabbit holes, only to close my laptop feeling more confused than when I began.

Troubadour Notebook was born as a companion for writers like me, those who want to craft authentic stories in real historical worlds, but who need a gentle guide to help structure that research.
