About Troubadour

Founded by Kelsey J. Parker

I grew up enchanted by the tales of Robin Hood. The gritty, fantastical stories of outlaws defying tyranny in the age of ‘Richard the Lionheart’. That passion led me to dream of writing my own Robin Hood retelling, but there was just one problem… I had no formal background in history. I never studied it at a higher level at school, finding the long essays and endless lists of dates overwhelming.

Despite that, storytelling was always in my blood. It wasn’t until my twenties that I truly fell in love with history and realized how much I wanted to understand the past, especially if I was going to write historical fiction.

But starting from scratch felt impossible.

How did I possibly start researching? I often felt lost, like I was years behind everyone else.

Thus, the creation of Troubadour’s Notebook; a space for writers like me who love history but don’t know where to start. Over the years, I’ve immersed myself in research, attended workshops, and devoured every book I could find.

I’m still learning, but with a deep passion for history, I want to create a space and community that makes history accessible to everyone. Not just scholars. With this platform, I will be offering expert services on how to market your book, and resources for every stage of your writing journey
